Jimi Jamison, who was the lead singer of Survivor, passed away earlier this week. He was 63. Reports indicated that Jamison suffered a heart attack at his home just a day after performing with Survivor in Northern California.

While Jamison did not sing lead on Survivor’s classic, “The Eye of the Tiger”, he fronted the band’s peak run through the 1980s on their other smash hits including “Burning Heart,” which became an instant success on the Rocky IV soundtrack and on workout playlists across the nation, “The Search Is Over”, “Is This Love”, “I Can’t Hold Back”, and “The Moment of Truth” (from “The Karate Kid”).

Jamison’s contributions to pop culture did not end with The Karate Kid and Rocky IV. He also co-wrote and sang lead on the theme song to Baywatch, “I’m Always Here”.
